Spina Bifida is the most common permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. It occurs when a baby's spine fails to close properly during the first months of pregnancy. This causes full or partial paralysis and on-going medical challenges. However, most born with Spina Bifida can expect to live happy and fulfilling lives. More Facts about Spina Bifida...

Fundraising Page for 9th Annual Spina Bifida Walk and Roll
September 26, 2009 at Miami Whitewater Forest
Dear Friends and Visitors,
I hope you will consider supporting my participation in this event that aids individuals and families living with Spina Bifida in the Cincinnati tri-state area. The 2009 Walk and Roll will be held September 26, 2009 at Miami-Whitewater Forest in Harrison, Ohio. Any contributions that YOU make will help me reach my goal, in turn helping to continue SBAC programs and services in 2010. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
The Spina Bifida Association of Cincinnati, Inc., is a 501(c)3 organization working to enrich the lives of those affected by Spina Bifida through education, parental support, social networking, advocacy and public awareness. They are parents, professionals, and adults with Spina Bifida collaborating to offer programs, resources and encouragement to families living in the Cincinnati tri-state region. They believe individuals with Spina Bifida can achieve their maximum potential with support, information and accommodations. To learn more about the SBAC, visit www.sbacincy.org.
I was first diagnosed at birth on August 19, 1985. For now 24 years, I've had to endure the daily struggles of Spina Bifida. I've had tethered cord, tendon release and scoliosis correction surgeries, as well as two pressure ulcer repairs and multiple bladder surgeries in those 24 years. I have also endured a latex allergy, and, just to complicate matters, in 2007 was diagnosed with depression which is luckily not as bad as it was when it began.
