Spina Bifida is the most common permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. It occurs when a baby's spine fails to close properly during the first months of pregnancy. This causes full or partial paralysis and on-going medical challenges. However, most born with Spina Bifida can expect to live happy and fulfilling lives. More Facts about Spina Bifida...

Thank you for your support.
SBAC has partnered with the Spina Bifida Clinic at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to provide a free packet of information including books, videos and/or gift cards at various “Touchpoints” in a child’s development. These packets target issues that occur at prenatal diagnosis, birth and when a child with Spina Bifida reaches school age, their preteens, and young adulthood. They are designed to address the challenges that occur in lifestyle and education at each of these important stages of life. Contact your Spina Bifida Clinic nurse coordinator Caryn Hogan, 636-8059 or Molly Markley 636-4649 if you would like to receive a Touchpoints packet.
